Abstract

The Arabidopsis Pleiotropic Regulatory Locus 1 (PRL1) encodes a nuclear WD-protein which is an inhibitor of AMP-activated SnRK1 kinases in vitro and a binding partner of CDC5 R2R3-Myb factor in a putative spliceosome assembly complex in vivo. PRL1 and CDC5 show proteasomal binding and degradation analogously to SnRK1 kinases that bind the SKP1 subunit of SCF E3 ubiquitin ligases and the ?7/PAD1 subunit of proteasomes. The project aims to explore the role of PRL1 in proteasomal targeting of CDC5 splicing complex and the control of proteolysis of bZIP and IAA/AUX transcription factors by SnRK1 kinases.
