Abstract

We have identified a novel phosphotyrosine motif on the FGF-signal transduction adapter Dof and have shown that it is involved in signal transmission. The motif is conserved in Dof from other insects and also in a number of signal transduction molecules in mammals, among them the Dof-related signalling molecule BANK and the FGF-receptor. We plan to determine the binding partners for this phosphotyrosine and to elucidate the mechanisms by which it couples Dof to downstream FGF-targets, with particular emphasis on modifications of adherens junction proteins that are mediated by FGF signalling.
